His Holiness the Seventeenth Gyalwang Karmapa stunned the entire world when, at the age of 14, he unexpectedly appeared in Dharamsala, India in January 2000, after a heroic escape from Tibet. After the government of India subsequently granted him refugee status, the Karmapa in February of 2001 commenced an historic pilgrimage through India to the holiest spots of Buddhism. The Pilgrimage, a 73 minute documentary video professionally produced by Dharma Chakra Centre, the official representative body for His Holiness Karmapa, is the official account of the Karmapa's journey through India.

Combining stunning visual images with a narration created by the office of His Holiness, The Pilgrimage is a display of the vast activity of His Holiness in promoting world peace. The film account begins on February 21 with His Holiness Karmapa's reception in New Delhi, the capital of India; follows him through his journey through the fabled places of Buddhist India; and concludes with his visit to Rewalsar, the lake made famous by Padmasambhava, the great Indian Buddhist Vajrayana master.
